Sir Gavin Williamson joined the Great Wyrley Scouts and Guides to discuss possibilities for extending the organisation’s grounds.
The scouting group holds activities to promote leadership and collaboration to young people. In order to host more activities, like archery, the club wants to expand its premises, aiming to increase its membership and provide more opportunities for young people to engage in the organisation.
Sir Gavin was keen to support the expansion of the grounds, recognising the importance of providing more opportunities for youth engagement. It will enhance opportunities for scouts and guides to develop skills and foster a sense of togetherness and cohesion.
Sir Gavin said: “It was lovely to meet with the Great Wyrley local Scouts group, an organisation that provides young people with excellent opportunities to set them up for their later lives. I’m going to work with the group going forward to assess opportunities for expanding the grounds with the hope that more young people will get involved.”
