Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, is urging local charities to apply for funding through the Santander Foundation.
The Santander Foundation was set up in 1990 and, to date, it has donated over £40 million to charities throughout the UK.
The company has two grants programmes to help disadvantaged people in the UK: Community Plus and Central Fund.
Community Plus provides grants of up to £5,000. The scheme is open to small local UK charities or local projects of national charities, with funding available to cover salaries, equipment or materials. The scheme is designed to be quick and simple to use, and nominations can be made by charities, as well as Santander customers and staff.
Central Fund offers grants of up to £10,000. The scheme is open to charities and Credit Unions anywhere in the UK for projects related to education, training or financial capability. This complements the local grants programme by supporting regional or national projects. Examples of activities the Foundation has supported include independent living skills, anger management or improving self esteem.
On the Santander Foundation, Gavin said: “We are very fortunate in South Staffordshire to have a large number of wonderful charitable organisations and dedicated volunteers, who are all extremely deserving of extra support. It is great to see a big, international business like Santander seek to give back to the community and I would urge our local organisations to apply for funding from these excellent schemes.”
The Foundation is always keen to receive nominations for support. If you would like to obtain more information on these schemes or wish to nominate a local organisation, please visit: http://www.santanderfoundation.org.uk/
