Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, participated in a car chase today with the police in Kinver.
Gavin visited Wombourne Police Station in the morning, where he learnt about the recent crackdown on crime in Kinver, in response to concerns that had been raised by residents.
The police have increased their presence at the centre of the village and have started using new number plate recognition technology, which interfaces with a national database, to catch criminals driving on Kinver’s roads.
Following the visit, Gavin accompanied two officers on their duties in Kinver, stopping suspicious motorists and even taking part in a car chase after one suspect sought to flee.
On the day, Gavin said: “I greatly admire all the hard work that is being undertaken by our local police force. After spending this time with them, I feel I have a greater understanding of how hard their work really is and I have nothing but praise for their efforts towards keeping the residents of Kinver - and other nearby villages - safe.
“The car chase certainly came as a surprise, but provided an interesting insight into the danger that these officers face every day on their jobs.”
