Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, visited the Watery Lane allotments, in Codsall, on Saturday 6th September.
Gavin got his hands dirty, during the morning, measuring sunflowers as part of the Tallest Sunflower Competition.
Following the judging, he presented the grower of the tallest sunflower with a trophy to celebrate their achievement.
Gavin said: “It is always a joy to visit the allotments at Watery Lane – they are always very well kept. During my visit, I greatly enjoyed measuring the sunflowers, which reached some truly fantastic heights.
“Sunflowers are particular favourites of mine, because I feel they symbolise summer and these were certainly exceptional specimens. Indeed, I challenge Express and Star readers to grow any taller sunflowers than those of the Watery Lane allotments.”
