Sir Gavin Williamson met with Birmingham and Midland Marine Services Limited to learn more about their water safety training.
Sir Gavin paid a visit to Birmingham and Midland Marine Services, which operates on the Chillington Hall Estate, on the Staffordshire and Worcester Canal near Stafford as well as at other various open water venues throughout the Midlands and Wales. They offer services ranging from occupational water safety training to rescue and boat training to companies such as the Environment Agency and the Canal and River Trust.
Their programmes, certified by the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and Royal Life Saving Society, provide vital assistance for those working around bodies of water and allow companies across Staffordshire to operate safely.
Sir Gavin said: “I was delighted to meet with the team at Birmingham and Midland Marine Services and learn more about the work they do. In Staffordshire, many companies operate around our extensive canal networks and it is essential that they have the resources and knowledge needed to keep their employees safe. I wish Birmingham and Midland Marine Service the best for the future.”
