Sir Gavin Williamson visited St Dominic’s School in Brewood to meet with sixth-form students and discuss his experiences as an MP, offering advice on how to embark upon a political career.
Sir Gavin met with students at St Dominic’s to give a question and answer session on life in parliament. Members of the student council were keen to greet Sir Gavin and had many interesting questions to pose to him on his work in politics. There was then the opportunity to learn more about the students involvement with the student council where they are able to engage with school leaders on key decisions. The school have recently embarked on several initiatives to widen the horizons of their students, such as hosting a group of students from Indonesia.
Sir Gavin said: “It was a real pleasure to meet with students from St Dominic’s whose questions were thought provoking and intelligent. It’s great to see young people with an active interest in politics, and the Student Council seems to be a great way for students to take on positions of leadership and responsibility that would set them up well for a parliamentary career.”
St. Dominic’s Grammar School Headmaster Peter McNabb said: “We were delighted to welcome Sir Gavin Williamson to our school. Our Student Council representatives asked some thoughtful questions and were given a fascinating and inspiring insight into Sir Gavin’s Parliamentary career and the role of an MP.”
