Sir Gavin Williamson recently visited Brighter Days Rescue in Penkridge, a dog rescue centre that hopes to rehome stray and abused dogs from countries with lower standards of animal welfare.
Sir Gavin met with the Kennel Manager and Directors to learn more about the organisation which rescues and homes strays from countries such as Bulgaria and Romania. The organisation raises funds to assign abused and neglected dogs with passports, medication and transport to be able to enter the UK. The dogs are then put up for adoption within loving family homes in Staffordshire.
Sir Gavin said: “I was grateful to meet with the team at Brighter Days Rescue, and met several happy dogs whose lives have been transformed by the organisation. As a dog-lover myself, animal welfare is a high concern for me, and I’m really pleased that Staffordshire is home to an organisation which seeks to correct the neglect of these poor animals. Brighter Days Rescue are always in need of volunteers, and I would encourage any who are able to get involved in any way possible.”

We are equally very pleased to receive his support in our application with the Charity Commission and hope to expand our shelters work to rescue many more dogs in need upon our successful application.”
