Sir Gavin Williamson visited Featherstone Community Centre to learn more about plans to build a new park for adults and children.
Sir Gavin met with Kate Haycox, the Chairperson of the Featherstone Park Committee to discuss fundraising for the park, which will include a sensory garden and gym equipment for adults. The group are currently fundraising for the second phase of the park’s construction, which will see the installation of equipment for children up to 14 years old.
The Featherstone Community Centre is a popular venue for meetings and events, and often hosts local interest groups.
Sir Gavin said: “I was delighted to visit Featherstone Community Centre to hear about plans for the new park. It is more important than ever that we create spaces for children to learn and play, and I wholeheartedly admire the Committee’s efforts to make Featherstone a great place to live.”
Kate said: “We are excited to help develop our community facilities by fundraising to expand our park. It was a pleasure to meet with Sir Gavin Williamson and see that he shares our passion for improving the community whilst sharing his own fundraising ideas with us for this essential project. We look forward to working further with Sir Gavin in our endeavours.
