Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire recently visited Hollybush Garden Centre and celebrated their 40th anniversary.
On Friday, 25th February, Gavin met with Kate Seagrove, Director of Hollybush Garden Centre, and Steve Hallett, General Manager, to discuss the business, its success, and its 40th anniversary.
Hollybush Garden Centre, located in Shareshill, is one of the largest independently owned and run garden centres in the UK, ranking in the top 50 in the country by turnover. The centre directly employs over 100 staff and hosts 12 independent businesses which operate inside the centre, including an old-fashioned sweet shop and a high-quality farm shop.
The centre was opened 40 years ago by Jack Moody and is looking to celebrate its anniversary in tandem with Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Hollybush will be donating 40 trees this year in aid of The Queen’s Green Canopy tree planting initiative, which aims to create a green legacy in honour of Her Majesty’s many years of service to the UK.
Steve Hallett said: ‘It was lovely to have Gavin visit us here at Hollybush and to show him all that the centre has to offer. Community lies at the heart of everything we do, and we are delighted to have welcomed so many new gardeners to Hollybush over the past few years.”
Gavin said: “It was a pleasure to visit Hollybush Garden Centre recently and hear about how well this locally owned and run business is doing. We are lucky to have such an excellent garden centre filled with wonderful plants and even better people. I congratulate them on 40 excellent years of service to the South Staffordshire community.”
