Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, visited Parish Councillors in Essington to discuss issues relating to flooding.
A number of concerned residents and Parish Councillors have raised concerns about the current state of the footpaths at the top of Broad Lane towards Bloxwich.
Gavin has called on the County Council to address the issue of kerbing on Broad Lane, asking the Council to arrange for the Community Service Team to edge out the path to its original width, bypassing the need for it to be resurfaced.
In addition to the footpath, Gavin has urged the Council to look at the matter of the chicane on the approach to the residential area of Broad Lane to see if it can be moved back to accommodate waiting traffic in the stop area is.
Gavin said: “This situation is not acceptable. The current footpath simply needs to be widened to accommodate for overgrowth of vegetation. I am grateful for the assistance from Parish Councillors in Essington who have worked alongside me in helping getting this matter raised with the Council.
“For safety reasons, the importance of maintaining our road and footpath cannot be overstated. I have called on the Council to request that action is immediately taken on this matter.”
