Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, welcomed 30 students from Codsall Community High School to Parliament, yesterday.
The students were taken on an educational tour of Parliament and given lessons on democracy and the role of Parliament in society.
Gavin gave a talk on his responsibilities as an MP and took questions from the pupils on a variety of topics.
The questions covered issues ranging from university fees to the rowdiness of Prime Minister’s Questions.
Gavin also gave pupils the opportunity to act out PMQs and holler at each other, in order to get a feel for the Chamber.
On the visit, Gavin said: “I think it is very important for young people to learn about the democratic process and the role that Parliament plays in creating and developing policy.
“I, myself, was inspired to become an MP by a visit to Parliament when I was younger and I hope this trip may have similarly motivated the pupils of Codsall Community High School to maybe one day enter politics.”
