Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, has become only the second honorary member of the Rotary Club of Kinver since its formation in 1985.
Gavin took part in an induction ceremony at The Fox Inn, in Stourton, last week.
During the event, he spoke to Rotarians and their wives about what a privilege it was to be invited to be an honorary member of the ‘amazing club’.
He said: “Kinver Rotary Club is an amazing club, not just for the little things it does, but the massive things: raising tens of thousands of pounds each year for charities and good causes, making Kinver nicer place to live.
“This is all down to a group of just over 40. For 40 people to make such a difference to a community is an amazing achievement.”
Gavin also thanked the members for always giving him a kind welcome and involving him within the club activities.
He added: “There is nothing more valuable than being part of a community. It is my privilege to be part of his club.”
Carrying out the induction, President Nick Geoghegan thanked Gavin for his continuous support of the club, despite his increasing commitments at Westminster since his election to Parliament, in 2010.
He then presented Gavin with an engraved crystal decanter and tumbler, together with a Kinver Rotary Club badge to be worn every time he attends the club.
Gavin’s induction was followed by an address by guest speaker Peter Cooper on behalf of the Barrel of Fun drop in centre at Kidderminster.
