Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire welcomed students and teachers from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Brewood to Parliament on Monday morning.
Gavin welcomed pupils and teachers at Westminster Hall which began their tour of the Palace of Westminster. After showing students Central Lobby, the robing room and the House of Lords, Gavin demonstrated how each MP would vote through the Voting Lobby by the House of Commons Chamber.
Following the tour, Gavin answered questions from pupils about life as an MP and took them outside to be photographed in front of Big Ben.
Commenting on the visit, Gavin stated “It was a pleasure to take the students and teachers from St Mary’s around the Palace of Westminster. I was so impressed with the pupil’s knowledge of British history. They were all extremely engaged in the tour and asked numerous intelligent questions about how Parliament worked, as well as about the building itself.”
