South Staffordshire is the most peaceful area to live in the West Midlands, according to a new index published by the Institute of Economics & Peace.
The 2012 United Kingsom Peace Index revealed that South Staffordshire is one of the most stress free places in the UK, with low rates of homicide, violent crime, weapons crime and public disorder.
The figures are in sharp contrast to neighbouring Wolverhampton, which was deemed to have triple the rate of violent crime and well over double the rate of weapons crime.
On the results, Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, said: “These are splendid results, but they are not surprising…
“Peace is a co-operative endeavour and these results are no doubt largely down to the continued hard work of South Staffordshire residents and the local council, as well as the tremendous and proactive efforts of our police force.”
