Sir Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, visited Staffordshire Wildlife Trust to discuss their conservation work and new Farmer Facilitation group.
Sir Gavin was shown the varied conservation work the Trust does, from preserving local wildlife sites to helping save species like the endangered Willow Tits.
The Trust has also recently set-up a Farmer Facilitation group to help improve ecological connectivity between Highgate Common and Kinver. Farmers will be offered free training and support in accessing funding for environmental work, including those schemes which are part of the Government’s Environmental Land Management programme.
Sir Gavin said: “It was a delight to visit Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and to talk to them about all of the conservation work they do around South Staffordshire and the whole of Staffordshire.
“It was also fascinating to hear about their new Farmer Facilitation group, which will help many farmers get access to the funding they need to farm sustainably, rewild and restore landscapes, and help local nature recover.”
