Sir Gavin Williamson MP has called on Severn Trent to halt sewage outflows into the Wom Brook and invest in new infrastructure to prevent future discharges.
The Wom Brook, which flows through Wombourne, has seen over 18 instances where raw sewage overflowed into the brook, with three instances in just one day.
Residents are concerned about the environmental impact of these discharges, both for the local wildlife and for human health.
Sir Gavin said: “The Wom Brook is such a beautiful, natural asset for Wombourne Residents and these sewage discharges are completely unacceptable. Severn Trent must halt them as soon as possible and work urgently to upgrade their infrastructure to eliminate the need for these discharges.”
