Gavin Williamson, Member of Parliament for South Staffordshire, has secured a clear promise from the Chief Constable of Staffordshire Police that a Police Station is to be maintained in the village of Wombourne. Following a campaign led by Gavin Williamson MP and local and district county councillors the Chief Constable has made an unequivocal pledge that an operational Police Station open to the public will be maintained in Wombourne.
The Police Station may have to be moved from its current location but there is a clear commitment that the current Police Station will not be closed until a new alternative is found and is operational.
Commenting on this Gavin Williamson MP said:
‘This is absolutely fantastic news which both I and everyone in Wombourne and the surrounding area will thoroughly welcome. It is without doubt a credit to the Chief Constable and his officers that they have recognised the need for a fully operational Police Station in Wombourne and it will be a great relief to many. Alongside many others I will continue to work to ensure that the very best service possible is maintained for the residents of Wombourne and its surrounding villages.’
