Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, attended Wombourne Carnival on Saturday.
The annual event is held each year on the first Sunday of July, in Wombourne village centre.
This year’s carnival started around 1:30pm, with the carnival procession leaving the parade ground to travel around the village at 2pm.
There were a series of stalls at the carnival and plenty of amusements to keep visitors entertained, including a funfair, duck race, pitch ‘n’ putt and other assorted sideshows.
On the event, Gavin said: “I had a marvellous afternoon at the Wombourne Carnival. We couldn’t have wished for better weather and the sunshine, and blue skies, added hugely to the festivities. The carnival is a great example of community coming together and was one of the inspirations for my campaign to ensure that the police continue to provide temporary road blocks for these events.
“There were loads of activities for visitors to take advantage of on the day. I particularly enjoyed taking part in the pitch ‘n’ putt with the President of the Wombourne and Sedgley Rotary Club, Rob Cleaver. I also had a wonderful time visiting the many stalls and viewing some splendid floats, such as that of Brindley Heath Junior School, which won the float parade, and Westfield Community Primary School, which took second place.
