Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, opened the newly refurbished Parish Rooms at St Nicholas’ Church, in Codsall.
Gavin was welcomed by Reverend Simon Witcombe in front of invited guests, which included representatives of the grant making bodies, members of local government and many people who were involved in the project.
The welcome was followed by an official ribbon cutting ceremony, which declared the rooms open for use once again.
Over the years, the Parish Rooms have been a central pillar in the community, being used for a wide range of different community activities from a rifle range to the Sunday School and hosting many other local events.
The Parish Rooms are seeking further funding from the Lloyds Bank Community Fund, a project which provides grants to support local causes across the UK. The amount of funding the scheme will receive depends on the number of votes cast.
Gavin said: “The Parish Rooms mean a great deal to me, I held one of my first events there when I was a parliamentary candidate, so I was honoured to be asked to return and re-open them after their refurbishment.
“They are a centre for a vibrant range of community activities, which is why I am urging people to back their application for more funding, through the Lloyds Community Fund. I hope everyone will cast their vote to ensure that they can continue catering for the different community needs, long into the future.”
