Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, will spend time work shadowing Sainsbury’s employees on the food counters in Sainsbury’s, in Wombourne, on Thursday 28th August.
During his work shadowing placement, Gavin will spend time with employees working on the meat, fish, bakery and hot food counters.
Many of Sainsbury’s staff have attended training at Sainsbury’s seven independently accredited colleges.
As part of their 20x20 Sustainability Plan, Sainsbury’s have ensured that at least half their employees will have received externally accredited training by 2020.
In recognition of this scheme, Sainsbury’s was the first ever food retailer to be awarded the gold accreditation from Investors in People.
Gavin said: “I am very much looking forward to spending to shadowing the employees in Sainsbury’s. They have a wonderful scheme which encourages their employees to gain fantastic skills and knowledge from their time spent studying at the Sainsbury’s food colleges which I am excited to see for myself.”
“The supermarket surgeries that I have held recently have been very successful and I have had some great feedback from local residents. The sessions are designed to be an easy, accessible way for residents to come to me with any problems that they might be facing.”
Immediately after his work shadowing, Gavin will be holding a Supermarket Surgery for constituents in Sainsbury’s. Constituents that have any issues that they would like to raise with Gavin should drop by between 16.30 and 17.30.
South Staffordshire residents can find out the details of any other upcoming surgeries in their area by visiting Gavin’s website at: www.gavinwilliamson.org/events.
