Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, welcomed 30 students from Codsall Community High School to Parliament, yesterday.
The students were taken on a tour of Parliament and given lessons on democracy and the role of Parliament in society.
Gavin gave a talk on his responsibilities as an MP and took questions from the pupils on a variety of topics.
The questions covered a wide range of issues, including his views on university fees and how he makes difficult decisions on policy.
On the visit, Gavin said: “I think it is very important for young people to learn about the democratic process and the role that Parliament plays in creating and developing policy.
“The students asked a number of very interesting questions and I hope my talk helped provide them with a slightly better understanding of an MP’s role in the constituency and Westminster. Who knows, maybe a couple of them will be inspired to enter into politics one day themselves.”
