Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, recently joined Aidan Burley, MP for Cannock Chase, on a visit to the Newlife Foundation Headquarters.
Founded in 1991, the Newlife Foundation is a charity working to help children living with disabilities or suffering from terminal illnesses.
Its main activities include providing funding for medical research, running a nurses helpline, providing equipment grants or loans and raising awareness of some of the issues faced by many thousands of children throughout the UK.
The two Members of Parliament were introduced to some of the services that the organisation provides for disabled children and their families.
Chief amongst these was the ‘Just Can’t Wait’ service, which provides specialist equipment for terminally ill children within 72 hours of receiving a request.
On the visit, Gavin said: “I was incredibly impressed by the level of knowledge displayed by the staff and their obvious dedication to their job. Organisations, such as Newlife, provide invaluable support to thousands of children across the country and it is important that we do we can to help them in their work.”
