Sir Gavin Williamson has welcomed the decision that Staffordshire PCC will receive funds to pilot an increased police presence to clamp down on anti-social behaviour in targeted hotspots where it is most prevalent.
Yesterday’s publication of the Anti-social Behaviour Action Plan reinforces the Government’s commitment to stamp out anti-social behaviour and restore the right of people to feel safe in, and proud of, their local area. Staffordshire is one of 16 police areas in England and Wales which have been selected for 'trailblazer' schemes aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour.
These policing hotspots will focus on public transport areas and other locations such as parks and high streets. Uniformed patrols will discourage anti-social behaviour while also bringing about faster enforcement action against offenders.
Sir Gavin said: “I am well aware of the many concerns which residents have in South Staffordshire regarding ASB. I have raised this issue many times with the Government and am delighted that Staffordshire PCC have been selected for this pilot programme. It is vital that residents feel as safe as possible in their local communities, and I believe this scheme will provide the support and assurance which is so necessary.”
