Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, visited the annual Wild About Perton Spring Festival. Hosted at Perton library, this local village event celebrates animals and nature and this year was the thirteenth year it has been held. Over twenty organisations and projects participated this year and there were a number of stalls that attendees could visit. Perton Spring Festival aims to show people what is best about South Staffordshire’s local environment and wildlife. Gavin received a cheque from the World Owl Trust for a thousand pounds and this money will go towards the nearly three hundred owls they look after.
Speaking about the event, Gavin commented ‘’It was a real privilege to receive a cheque on behalf of the World Owl Trust in my role as patron. They do such important work and are a really vital organisation. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Wild About Perton and it was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate the nature of Perton and South Staffordshire. I want to thank all of the volunteers who put so much time and effort into organising the event and I was delighted that so many people attended. We are so lucky to have community events like Wild About Perton in South Staffordshire and I am already very much looking forward to attending next year!''
