Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, visited Wightwick Hall School near Wolverhampton to understand the outstanding work that the school is doing in partnership with The Institute of Financial Services at University College to provide financial education for children and young people in South Staffordshire.
Gavin met with Alison Pask, the Vice Principal of Financial Capability from The Institute of Financial Services at University College, Paul Elliot, the Headteacher of Wightwick Hall School, and Raphael James, the Business and Enterprise teacher, to discuss the ways in which the college provides financial advice and fosters financial growth for children.
The Institute of Financial Services is an educational charity that helps students to learn about financial services and managing their money, and helps to train them so that they will leave school with the skillset required to effectively handle their finances.
Commenting on his visit, Gavin said: “I was delighted to meet with Alison, Paul, and Raphael to learn about what they are doing to ensure a brighter financial future for our children. I think it is so important that young people are equipped with the knowledge of how to deal with their finances before they leave school. It is wonderful that partnerships such as the one between The Institute of Financial Services at University College and Wightwick Hall School are working to encourage young people from South Staffordshire to become financially responsible."
