Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire visited pupils at Cheslyn Hay Sport and Community High School last week.
After taking a tour around the school, Gavin took part in a question and answer session with Sixth Form pupils who are studying Politics. The pupils tackled subjects such as how MPs voted on Syria to the process involved in becoming a Member of Parliament.
Many pupils asked how Gavin himself got involved with politics and showed interest in the work experience placements that Gavin offers to young people.
Following his visit Gavin commented: “It was great to return to Cheslyn Hay High School to visit pupils and hear about the progress that pupils and the school has made.
“All the Politics students were all extremely engaged in the issues affecting them and asked numerous intelligent questions about the internal workings of Parliament, as well as national issues.
“I was delighted to hear that pupils were interested in becoming more involved with politics. I myself first started my political career doing work experience with an MP and I look forward to hearing from more pupils wishing to take advantage of my work experience placement scheme.”
