Sir Gavin Williamson visited an NCS programme at Laches Wood Education Centre in Slade Heath.
Sir Gavin joined over 180 students taking part in the National Citizen Service programme, which challenges young people to tackle various team-building exercises and embrace the outdoors.
Sir Gavin spoke to representatives from the programme and toured the site, where students were participating in a range of activities from ziplining, rock climbing, and roasting marshmallows.
The organisation hopes to provide young people with experiences that boost their confidence as well as enabling them to meet new friends and make a positive impact on their local area.
Sir Gavin said: ‘It was great to meet with students taking part in the NCS, a fantastic scheme to encourage young people to contribute to their communities. I was pleased to see that the students were enthusiastically taking on the activities available and were enjoying the team-building exercises.’
