Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, recently visited Martin Thomas butchers in Pattingham. On Monday 6th May, Martin Thomas butchers competed at the international product competition organised by the DFV German meat association in Frankfurt. They were the only entrant from the United Kingdom to take part and scored highly enough to obtain a medal for each product submitted. Their traditional black pudding was given a gold award by the panel of judges and their apricot black pudding was given a silver award and mentioned in the show magazine as a product that had never been seen before by the judging panel.
Commenting on the visit, Gavin said ‘’I am immensely proud that this local, family run business in Pattingham has been representing South Staffordshire on the international stage. Winning these awards shows how hard the butchers have worked to perfect their products and we are extremely lucky to have such a wonderful business in the heart of the constituency. I want to congratulate everyone who worked so hard on these products and I very much looking forward to seeing what they come up with in the future!’’
