Sir Gavin Williamson recently joined staff from Staffordshire Wildlife Trust at Highgate Common to see the conservation and restoration work taking place there.
Since taking over the site in 2009, the Trust has focused on restoring the common’s heathland which provides essential habitats for its nationally important collection of insects.
Sir Gavin met with the Chief Executive of Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, Julian Woolford, and their Senior Heathlands Officer, Hayley Dorrington
Sir Gavin said: “It was a pleasure to join Julian and Hayley at Highgate Common to discuss the amazing work the Trust has been doing to restore the common’s heathland.
“With such a wonderful patch of nature right on our doorstep, I would thoroughly recommend everyone make a visit to the common for its delightful walks and fantastic wildlife.”
