Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, attended a meeting of the Cheslyn Hay Townswomen’s Guild as part of their Marie Curie Fundraising Afternoon.
The gathering, which took place at the Cheslyn Hay Village Hall, was part of a number of fundraising events that the group organise for charities. Gavin spoke to attendees about his role as an MP, his previous role as Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to David Cameron and his current position as the Government Chief Whip.
This was followed by a question and answer session, in which members were given the opportunity to ask questions about his constituency and Parliamentary duties.
Commenting on the event Gavin said: “I was hugely honoured to be asked to speak to Cheslyn Hay Townswomen’s Guild. It is an incredible organisation, with a rich and varied history, and is a huge force for good in our local community.
“I always really look forward to coming and speaking to the many branches of the Townswomen’s Guilds that we have across South Staffordshire and meeting their members. I’d like to thank them for their hospitality and hope that they raised a lot money for a very worthy cause.”
The Cheslyn Hay branch of the Townswomen’s Guild meets on the third Thursday of each month at 14:00 at the Village Hall. The group organises a number of fundraising events, day trips and other activities for members throughout the year.
