Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, is concerned about Cheslyn Hay Library having reduced access for residents following a recent decision made by Staffordshire County Council.
Cheslyn Hay Library, based in the center of Cheslyn Hay, is a popular location for residents of all ages, especially children. However, residents are extremely concerned about the fact that opening hours have been reduced dramatically since the beginning of August: although the library was previously open five days a week at varying times, it will only now only be open two days a week.
Commenting on the issue, Gavin said: “I was very concerned to hear that Cheslyn Hay Library’s opening hours have been dramatically reduced. The library is an extremely important part of the community and helps to educate our young people, as well as engaging individuals from all age groups who are passionate about reading.
I have urged Staffordshire County Council to reconsider this decision as our libraries are so incredibly important in encouraging our community to grow and thrive”.
