Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire has presented the end of year awards at the Codsall Judo Club
The MP for Southstaffordshire handed out the Codsall Judo Club’s Christmas awards to the 2021 winners. The club has been operating for over 40 years at the leisure centre in Codsall. Judo remains a highly popular sport with young people and the club has seen hundreds of local young girls and boys progress through, some to national and even international levels.
This year the winners announced in the lightweight category were Harry Whitehouse and Harper Bishop, followed by Neil Wadelin and George Spires in the middleweight category and finally the heavyweights’ champions Conrad Greiner and Arshnoor Kaur.
Gavin said: “The Christmas competition is always a highlight for me and many of my constituents, so it was an honour to be asked to give out the awards at the Codsall Judo Club. Many congratulations to all those who participated for their hard work and dedication that continues to inspire many more young people to play sports.”
Cllr Bob Spencer said: “We are extremely grateful for the support Gavin has given us over many years with various grant applications. The number of young people who play is testament to both the sport and the hard work many volunteers put into it.”
