Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, has praised the Canal and River Trust in Kinver for maintaining waterways and paths in South Staffordshire every year.
The group have around 800 active volunteers and dedicate 150,000 hours per year across the West Midlands. The charity trust was launched in 2012 and helps maintain bridges, locks and aqueducts as well as keeping canal and river paths clean and accessible for the public.
The Trust has seen over 400,000 children take part in volunteer led learning sessions through their ‘Explores’ cross-curricular project with schools.
Gavin met with Adnan Saif, the Director of the West Midlands Region to talk about the fantastic work within the community.
Speaking about the visit, Gavin said: “It is great to see the work that the Canal and River Trust do in keeping the waterways clean and accessible here in Kinver. It is a great community initiative and I would encourage as many people as possible to get involved to continue to keep our waterways open”.
