Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, joined volunteers from the National Trust and Kinver Rotary as part of a worldwide woodland initiative.
The National Trust teamed up with Kinver Rotary last week to increase species diversity and age structure within Kinver's natural woodland. This included planting a variety of broadleaved saplings as part of a worldwide initiative by Rotary International, aiming eventually to plant 1.2 million saplings across the globe.
Gavin joined pupils at Kingsford Lane Country Park to plant 300, Beech, Sweet Chestnut and Rowan trees.
Commenting on the day, Gavin said: “I had a fantastic time planting trees with pupils from Brindley Heath Junior School, joined by members of the Kinver Rotary Club. The children were so enthusiastic and keen to get involved, and it was wonderful knowing they are passionate about nature and preserving our environment. Similarly, members of the Rotary Club were so fantastic in engaging the children and I am so grateful for all they do in the community."
