Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, opened the first Codsall Beer Festival at Codsall Village Hall last weekend.
Visitors enjoyed more than 25 real ales and 10 ciders from independent and local breweries and sampled food provided by Codsall Family Butchers and were entertained by a number of hugely talented local musicians.
The Festival, organised by Andy Evans from Codsall, raised £4,000 which will be split between two local charities, Codsall Community Group and the Harry Will Walk Charity, a cause that aims to raise £80,000 to send a three-year-old from Codsall with cerebral palsy for life-changing surgery in America, to help him walk independently.
Commenting on the Festival Gavin said: “As a huge supporter of CAMRA, it was fantastic to see hundreds of people sampling the independently and locally brewed ciders and real ales that were on offer.
“It was even better to see the numbers of local businesses that were sponsoring the event, which raised a fantastic £4,000 which will be given to two wonderful local causes.
“It was so great to see so many friendly and familiar faces from across Codsall and surrounding villages come and support this brilliant day. I would like to thank everyone involved in the organisation of the first Codsall Beer Festival, for all the hard work and effort that was put in to hosting this event and I look forward to attending many more days like these in the future.”
