Sir Gavin Williamson celebrated the opening of Tamworth Cues in Codsall and discussed the importance of snooker for the local community.
Sir Gavin visited Tamworth Cues, a newly opened snooker shop, and spoke with owners Jenny and Murray Phillips about their plans to get more people involved in snooker. They highlighted the importance of the sport in combatting loneliness and improving mental health, as well as in providing younger people with new opportunities. The shop currently runs a “buddy-up” scheme to help like-minded people build friendships through snooker.
Moreover, Tamworth Cues is working alongside the English Partnership for Snooker and Billiards to organise a National Snooker Week from July 17th until 23rd. As part of the initiative, Tamworth Cues will offer two hours of free snooker to anyone who is interested.
Sir Gavin said: “It is fantastic to see the opening of another independent shop in Codsall. I was particularly heartened to learn about all the ways in which Tamworth Cues serves the local community, whether it is fighting the epidemic of loneliness or getting young people to try out new things. I wholeheartedly support their efforts and wish them the best of luck.”
Jenny Phillips said: “As a leading supplier of snooker & pool cues, darts and accessories, we are delighted to open our new store in Codsall. Our passion is to get new people, especially younger ones, into the sport.”
