Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, has welcomed the news that The King’s Repose restaurant have made it to the Grand Final of this year’s Tiffin Cup.
Earlier this year Gavin nominated The King’s Repose in Featherstone, to participate in the annual Tiffin Cup, a competition which celebrates culinary diversity and is held each year to find the best South Asian restaurant in the country. The restaurant is one of the eleven national finalists in this competition.
The Grand Final of the Tiffin Cup 2016 is to be held at Bellamy’s Restaurant in the House of Commons on Tuesday 12th July 2016 at 6:00pm. The Tiffin Cup winner is chosen from a list of restaurants that have been nominated by local MPs. This year seventy restaurants were nominated. This year the celebrity judges include Chef Ainsley Harriott and EastEnders actress Nina Wadia.
Keith Vaz MP, the chair of the Tiffin Club said: “We are delighted that The King’s Repose has beaten extremely stiff competition in order to become one of the finalists of the Tiffin Cup on 12th July 2016. This is a great tribute not just to the nomination of The King’s Repose but also to the constituency in South Staffordshire as a whole. We wish them the very best luck for the final.”
Welcoming the news Gavin commented: “I am delighted that The King’s Repose has made it into the grand final of the Tiffin Cup 2016 which will be held in the House of Commons. This is such a prestigious award and I am looking forward to cheering them on in July and I am sure everyone in South Staffordshire will be rooting for our restaurant to be crowned the 2016 champion.”
