Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, visited a primary school in Perton to celebrate the conversion of the school into an Academy.
The Perton Sandown First School officially celebrated its conversion to Perton Primary Academy last week. Gavin spoke with headteacher Elizabeth Threlkheld about the changes that the school has gone through recently as well as their plans going forward.
Gavin joined parents, teachers and pupils for a balloon launch at the school on Sandown Drive in the afternoon, where each child released balloons in the yellow and blue of the Academy’s colours.
On the event Gavin said: “It was great to celebrate with teachers, pupils and parents at Perton Primary Academy this week and take part in their fantastic balloon launch.
“I have always really enjoyed visiting this wonderful school and meeting pupils and teachers and I am looking forward to hearing about their success over this school year and the years to come.”
