Sir Gavin Williamson attended the Local Election Count at Perton Civic Centre to support Conservative candidates in South Staffordshire.
Sir Gavin celebrated as Conservative candidates took 29 of 42 seats available in South Staffordshire and retained control over the District Council. Following boundary changes, the number of seats contested was reduced from 49 to 42.
Sir Gavin said: “It’s fantastic to see the local Conservative candidates do so well in these elections. Despite a tricky night for the Conservatives in other areas of the country, it’s clear that our local representatives continue to inspire confidence in residents. I have personally seen how they go above and beyond to serve the people of South Staffordshire, and I am certain that they will continue to do great work.
