Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, has called on County Highways to take action on a number of potholes on the A449 Wodehouse traffic island near Wombourne.
A number of constituents have complained about the poor state of the road in Wombourne and are concerned that it could damage cars and cause injury to cyclists and motorcyclists.
Gavin has called on County Highways to investigate the problem which is a busy road used by hundreds of motorists daily. The heavy usage of the road means that the condition will only get worse, causing damage to cars and possibly leading to an accident.
Gavin said: “It is appalling that Wombourne residents have been forced to use roads that are in such poor condition. The importance of maintaining our road network cannot be overstated especially for the safety of motorists that use it. This is particularly the case in many rural areas, such as South Staffordshire, where so many people rely heavily on cars or buses to travel to work and shops. I myself have witness the appalling condition of this road and I urge the County Highways to undertake urgent action to repair the roads. “
