Sir Gavin Williamson attended The Haywoods Flower and Vegetable Show this weekend to marvel at the local horticultural talent.
Sir Gavin joined residents from Colwich, Great Haywood and Little Haywood for the annual event, which brings the villages together to exhibit their efforts in growing and making things. There were sections for prize-winning vegetables, flower arrangements, bread, cakes, preserves, art, photography and even a special category for children’s entries.
The show, which is organised by a team of volunteers from The Haywoods Flower and Vegetable Show Society, does not make a profit but aims to use funding raised to cover the cost of the event.
Sir Gavin said: “I was delighted to attend the Haywoods Flower and Vegetable Show this weekend where local residents presented the fruits and vegetables they had spent months slowly growing and harvesting. It was great to see the local culinary talent on display too. The annual village show is a wonderful token of English country life and I was pleased to see the popularity of the event.”
