Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, is set to attend Christmas Carols in Codsall, this Friday 6th December.
Around 250 local residents usually attend the annual Christmas Carols, held near Lloyds Bank on Station Road, Codsall.
The carols, which are organised by the Parish Council, see Codsall residents and groups come together for a night of singing, with free refreshments – such as hot chocolate and sandwiches - provided by a number of local businesses.
Three local primary schools, St. Nicholas Church School, St. Christopher R.C. Church School and Birches First School, will each be singing two songs during the course of the evening.
In between the schools’ performances, the St. Nicholas Choir will be singing a series of carols. Attendees will be handed pamphlets with the words and will be encouraged to sing along.
On the night of carolling, Gavin said: “The Christmas Carols in Codsall is one of my favourite annual events. There is always an incredible turnout and such a wonderful festive atmosphere throughout the village.
“It is always great to see the Salvation Army and numerous other local organisations join in on the celebrations. As we all sing together, there is an almost Dickensian atmosphere in the air and it really feels like Christmas has begun.”
Towards the end of the night and prior to the blessing, the local Lions Club will be collecting money for a worthy local charity. Carollers will then be able to listen to the bells and await the arrival of Santa Claus, who will be handing out some small gifts to the children from his sack.
For the first time, this year, The Bull will be serving a hog roast following the event. Any proceeds will go towards another local charity.
