Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, gave a tour for pupils from Brewood Middle School around the Palace of Westminster this week.
Gavin welcomed the group of students, all of whom had been involved in the Student Council at the school. After showing the pupils Westminster Hall, Central Lobby, the robing room and the House of Lords, Gavin demonstrated how each MP would vote through the Voting Lobby by the House of Commons Chamber.
Following the tour, Gavin answered questions from pupils about life as an MP and about the political system.
Commenting on the visit, Gavin stated “It was a pleasure to take the students and teachers from Brewood Middle School around the Palace of Westminster this week. All the children have been involved in some way in the Student Council at school and it was great to be able to show them some of Parliament and I was so impressed with the pupil’s knowledge of both history and politics. They were all extremely engaged in the tour and asked numerous intelligent questions about how Parliament worked, as well as about the Palace of Westminster itself.”
