Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, visited Kinver High School recently to hear about their refurbishment plans.
Gavin met with headteacher Mr Chris Rogers and pupils who told him about exciting new plans for a new teaching block. Gavin had been heavily involved in the campaign for money from the CIF fund to be granted to the school after some parts of the building had fallen in disrepair.
The government announced £435 million funding for 1,276 projects at 1,030 academies and sixth-form colleges. This also follows on from the announcement in February of the allocation of £200 million of Devolved Formula Capital to schools and the School Condition Allocations to local authorities, voluntary aided schools and larger multi-academy trusts.
Gavin also heard more about the Invictus Education Trust which Kinver High School is involved with along with Ounsdale High School in Wombourne. The Trust is a group of successful schools all within a 25 minute drive away from each other. The schools proudly retain their separate identities but also work closely together to produce the best possible outcomes.
Following his visit Gavin commented: “It was great to visit Kinver High School recently and meet with headteacher Mr Rogers and pupils to hear about the brilliant Invictus Education Trust which the school has become involved with.
“I was also delighted to hear about exciting new building plans with money allocated through the CIF funding that was so desperately needed to refurbish the school buildings. Our pupils in South Staffordshire deserve the best start in life and this funding will go some way to helping with this.”
