Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, lent his support to the first ever ‘Brewood Woggle,’ which took place on Sunday 15th September.
Gavin attended a photoshoot on the weekend prior to the race to help promote the event.
The charity run around Brewood was the latest fundraising venture of the Brewood Scouts Fundraisers and followed on from the group’s successful Cycle Challenge.
The ‘Brewood Woggle’ used the facilities of St Dominic’s High School and took entrants on a 10 kilometre scenic run around the outskirts of Brewood.
The route was fully signposted and marshalled, with a road closure for the massed-start and a drinks station half way round.
On finishing, entrants received a commemorative medal, a bottle of water and a home baked cake.
Car parking, toilets and changing rooms were provided courtesy of St Dominic’s High School with additional car parking available at Brewood Middle School.
As usual, all proceeds went to the Brewood Scouts Fundraisers, a fundraising committee of the 2nd Brewood Scout Group (charity no. 518527), set up specifically to raise funds to provide the Group with a new Scout Hut.
To date, the fundraising group has raised nearly £30,000, but it still has a long way to go.
On the event, Gavin said: “I am delighted to have been able to do my bit to support the ‘Brewood Woggle.’ I think the Brewood Scouts Fundraisers are doing an incredible job and the amount that they have already raised is testament to their extreme hard work and dedication.”
