Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, recently presented a series of awards to students of Brewood CE Middle School.
Gavin handed out certificates to pupils during their final assembly of the term last week in recognition of outstanding work and exceptional behaviour throughout this academic year.
In Brewood Middle School, Merit badges are awarded for ‘outstanding, excellent, exceptional or over and above subject work, or for being a good ambassador for Brewood CE Middle School’.
Students who earn Five Merit badges are awarded a Merit Certificate in a celebration assembly.
Gavin also gave a few words of encouragement to the students and congratulated them on their continued hard work and consistent high standard of academic performance.
After the assembly Gavin met with former students of the school who unveiled a memorial to students who had died during the First and Second World Wars.
Gavin said: “I was so delighted to be invited Brewood Middle School to hand out these certificates in recognition of the outstanding efforts made by students. I am always impressed by the high level of scholastic aptitude displayed by the Brewood Middle School pupils and by the extreme dedication of the staff.
“The memorial is very fitting for those former pupils who gave their lives during the two wars. I very much enjoyed meeting former pupils from the school, all of whom had very happy memories of Brewood.”
